The Standing Stone Health Care Board of Trustees will continue to work with Monterey to update a 44-year-old resolution.
Chairman Brian Eads said the trustees want to control a portion of funding from the healthcare facilities.
“We are asking for 20 percent of the rent that comes in from the Standing Stone Nursing home,” Eads said. “And the other two healthcare facilities in Monterey.”
Funding from the three facilities’ rent currently goes into the city’s hands.
The board came before the city in April to discuss the outdated resolution. Eads said the trustees operate according to the city.
“It is what the city, the mayor and board of aldermen, what they have in vision for this board to do,” Eads said. “What our responsibilities are and that resolution is entirely up to them.”
The Health Care Board met with Alderman Nathan Walker Tuesday about finances in the new resolution.
Eads said the board will have to create an operating budget and procedure for their funding.
“The monies that we will collect, what percentage will go towards repairs,” Eads said. “What percentage will go towards funding things for the community. Things of that nature.”
The Board of Aldermen agreed that the new 2019-2020 budget could not be approved the Standing Stone Board had a new agreement.
Eads said at the end of the day, the board operates under the Board of Aldermen and Mayor.
“[We contribute] very little,” Eads said. “We do what the mayor and board tell us to do basically.”
The Standing Stone Health Care Board hopes to have an updated resolution by the August Board of Aldermen meeting.
