School Maintenance Projects Approved By Putnam School Board

The Putnam County Board of Education approved summer maintenance projects for several schools last week.

Superintendent Jerry Boyd said a new cooling tower will be installed at Cornerstone Elementary.

“We also had a pump that essentially circulates all of the water at Cookeville High School,” Boyd said. “That needed to be repaired or replaced and we opted to just replace it completely.”

Cornerstone’s new cooling tower will cost $64,947. The Cookeville High School (CHS) pump replacement totals $37,863. Both projects come with a one year maintenance agreement.

“These are just continued preventative maintenance items,” Boyd said. “We have some other HVAC units that went out and we just proceeded in repairing or replacing those.”

The board also voted to allow CHS to bid the replacement and installation of a new intercom system. A quote was also approved to replace the mechanical unit for the office area at Burks Elementary.
