Baxter will spend more than $230,000 to repair two water tanks.
Mayor John Martin said the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) has ordered Baxter to complete the work.
“Of course, the tank needs to be painted. What they will do…is take it offline and redo the inside and outside,” Martin said. “That will cost us somewhere around $234,000 to do this and then there’s a little bit of repair that we’re going to do on the Boma tank. It’s something that’s mandated that we’ve got to do.”
Martin said bid prices ranged from $234,000 to $460,000.
“We’ve already accepted that bid so we can get that done,” Martin said. “The longevity of that project is somewhere between 10 and 15-years.”
Baxter aldermen approved the project bid during Thursday night’s meeting.
