The Cookeville Rescue Mission is in need of additional items for its food pantry.
Miranda Honeycutt is the family dorm manager at the mission. She said the pantry currently lacks canned and non-perishable food items.
“Donations come in each day, from clothing donations to baby items,” Honeycutt said. “but we don’t have that many people bringing in non-perishable food items.”
Honeycutt said food pantry supplies began running low after the recent cold snap and an influx of residents at the mission. She’s encouraging residents, businesses, and churches to drop off food donations at the mission’s welcome center on South Jefferson Avenue.
“Anything that is in date we will take,” Honeycutt said. “Canned food items is what we are needing right now, but it just has to be non-perishable.”
Honeycutt said the Cookeville Rescue Mission served 34,144 meals in 2018.
