High school football state championships get underway at Tennessee Tech’s Tucker Stadium Thursday.
Zach Ledbetter is Vice President of Visitor Development for the Cookeville-Putnam County Chamber of Commerce.
Ledbetter said the Blue Cross Bowl Steering Committee began preparing for the games a week after last year’s Blue Cross Bowl.
“We have truly strived to make it a collegiate championship experience for these young student athletes because for many of them, this may be the last football game of their career,” Ledbetter said. “Not all of them have an opportunity to play football in college so we want to make it very special for those teams and their fans and families that come and support them.”
A total of 18 teams will play in Cookeville this week with an estimated 30,000 to 40,000 guests visiting the city.
