Tennessee State Parks will be hosting free, guided hikes Friday.
Edgar Evins State Park Manager Brad Halfacre said it’s a perfect opportunity to get rid of holiday calories or just enjoy the outdoors with family.
“We still have some of the fall colors out on the trail and you never know what kind of wildlife you might see,” Halacre said. “You might see some birds or deer so it’s always a good idea to bring a camera when you come.”
Halfacre said park rangers will be leading participants on a 2.5 mile hike through the Millennium Trial.
“Bring your hiking boats and plenty of water because this is a moderate trail,” Halfacre said. “If you know anything about Edgar Evins there’s nothing really flat about us, so we do rate it moderate because of the inclines.”
People planning to take part in the hike should meet at the Millennium Trail parking area at 9:00 a.m.
Burgess Falls will be hosting a 1.5 mile hike to the main overlook Friday.
Park Manager Bill Summers said the hike has already filled up by folks registering online.
