Cumberland County will be adding a human resources director to the county pay scale.
Mayor Allen Foster said the new position will benefit the county as it continues to grow.
“With that comes employees and we have around 400 employees here in Cumberland County with no HR director. We need someone that can help us out with all those type of HR processes,” Foster said. “Laws have gotten very complicated and we just want to make sure that we are doing things right here in Cumberland County.”
Foster said he hopes to hire the HR director sometime in January.
“In a time where we must comply with FMLA, affirmative action, EEOC, state and federal regulations, this position is well overdue,” Foster said.
The Cumberland County Commission approved the new position during Monday’s monthly meeting.
