State and local authorities are working to identify a body that was found outside of a Smithville home Monday morning.
DeKalb County Sheriff Patrick Ray said officers responded to Parkway Drive around 7:50 a.m. and found a deceased female lying in the backyard.
Authorities have not yet identified the body as officers could not produce any photo identification at the scene.
According to a press release from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, the female was wearing maroon medical scrubs and brown boots. There was also an orange Home Depot jersey, brown jacket, and blue shirt at the scene.
Officials described the woman as 5-feet 4-inches tall, weighing between 120 and 125 pounds, with sandy blonde hair. She’s believed to be approximately 30 to 40 years of age.
The unidentified female also had a pierced belly button, a tattoo of a cross on the back of her neck and what appeared to be an “M” “W” or “3” tattooed on her right hand.
The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office and the Tennessee Bureau of investigation are asking for the public’s help in identifying the body.
