Putnam County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a New Jersey man Monday in connection with a 2016 murder charge.
Authorities are holding Nafees Winters, 23, in the Putnam County Jail.
New Jersey officials initially charged Winters with murder in 2016 after robbing and fatally beating a 62-year-old man in Millville.
The arrest warrant indicates New Jersey US Marshals informed Putnam officials that Winters had fled the state to avoid prosecution.
Putnam County officials are expected to extradite Winters.
