PCSO Arrests New York Sex Offender

A sex offender registered in New York faces charges after being arrested by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities arrested Dylan Osterhoudt, 26, for violating the sex offender registry and violating an order of protection.

Officials traveled to Cookeville Regional Medical Center to speak to a juvenile about sexual allegations.

During the investigation, authorities discovered that Osterhoudt had been staying at the Belle Ridge Campgrounds with the family since June, and failed to register his residence with the state of Tennessee.

According to the PCSO, Osterhoudt initially fled authorities when they attempted to arrest him Monday evening. Osterhoudt remained at-large overnight until PCSO received a call from him after he fell from a bluff.

Osterhoudt was arrested after turning himself in and was transported to the hospital. He is currently being held on $70,000 bond at the Putnam County Jail.

Records indicate Osterhoudt, originally from Florida, was convicted of second-degree rape in December 2016 after raping a 14-year-old juvenile in Cayuga County, New York.

He served six months in prison and was given 10 years probation. His last registered address was in Cortland County, New York south of Syracuse.

During the original conviction, Osterhoudt was enjoined from contacting the victim and family of the victim.
