Police Pursuit Leads to Crash, Injuries in Cookeville

A pursuit between police and a Baxter man ended in a crash that sent two to the hospital in Cookeville Friday.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, 35-year-old Shawn Gibson led Cookeville Police on a chase until he crashed into the vehicle of 34-year-old Adriane Canfield, of Cookeville. The crash occurred at the intersection of Buck Lake Road and Buck Mountain Road as Canfield was sitting at a stop sign with a 15-year-old juvenile passenger.

The THP report indicates Gibson and an unidentified white male fled from the scene of the crash. Their current conditions are unknown at this time.

Canfield was injured and transported to Cookeville Regional Medical Center for treatment. The 15-year-old juvenile was uninjured.

Stacy Maynard, 34, faces one count manufacturing, delivering, or selling a controlled substance, as well as one count tampering with evidence. She is being held at the Putnam County Jail on $25,000 bond. (Putnam County Jail Roster)

Stacey Maynard, 34 of Baxter, was in the vehicle with Gibson at the time of the crash. Maynard was also injured and

transported to CRMC for treatment. She has since been released and booked into the Putnam County Jail as of 9:46 p.m. Friday on $25,000 bond.

The THP reports both Gibson and the unidentified male remain at-large. Cookeville Police said the investigation is still ongoing and no further information is available. Charges against the two are pending.

Maynard faces one count manufacturing, delivering, or selling a controlled substance as well as one count tampering with evidence.
