Livingston’s Board of Aldermen and Mayor are considering a plan that would put revenue generated from liquor sales back into city street projects.
Alderman Chris Speck proposed the idea during the city’s September board meeting.
“In between now and the next meeting, you all consider we’ve got the liquor by the drink and the package stores,” Speck said. “Why don’t you all consider the taxes from that to go toward paving, instead of just going to the general funds. Let the people that drink pay for streets.”
Mayor Curtis Hayes said during the meeting Speck’s proposal will likely be added to the city’s Oct. 1 agenda.
