Two People Killed In Overton County Crash

A Thursday morning crash in Overton County claimed the life of two people from Allons.

The crash happened at 7:38 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 111 and Big Springs Road.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol has identified the deceased as 77-year-old Johnie Ford and 77-year-old Lillie Ford.

The THP’s preliminary crash report indicated that the couple suffered fatal injuries when their 2003 Chevrolet was struck by a tractor trailer traveling on Highway 111 northbound.

The report said the collision happened when Johnie Ford attempted to pull onto Highway 111 South from Big Springs Road. Witnesses told state troopers that Ford failed to yield right of way and pulled into the path of the semi, driven by 61-year-old Dickie Bryant of Columbia Kentucky.

Officials said Johnie and Lillie Ford were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash and no charges or citations were issued.

The driver of the semi truck did not suffer any injuries.
