A Baxter man helped pull an injured man from a burning tractor-trailer following an accident on I-40 eastbound Wednesday morning.
According to Tennessee Highway Patrol Lt. Jimmy Neal, the semi struck a bluff and burst into flames outside Gordonsville, burning the truck down to its frame.
The truck driver was flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. Neal said the driver had burns all over his body and both legs broken.
Neal said the Baxter man’s efforts likely saved the driver’s life. Neither the driver or the Baxter man have been identified.
