Cumberland County Commissioners will ask state lawmakers to enact a 1-percent restaurant privilege tax tonight.
If approved by state lawmakers, the money generated from the tax would be earmarked for constructing the proposed Cumberland County expo center.
According to county officials, the 45,000 square foot indoor expo center would cost as estimated $3.86 million to construct. The facility would be used for sporting events, concerts, graduations, and other events.
The Cumberland County Commission meets tonight at 6:00 inside the county courthouse.
