Smithville elected Josh Miller as the new mayor, defeating Jimmy Poss and Curtis Rust.
Miller said the key to winning was about advertising and support.
“I feel good, it’s just this outpouring of support. City of Smithville,” Miller said. “I cannot thank them enough. So it was a big win.”
Upon the recent indictment of former mayor Jimmy Poss, Miller said it is time to move on to better things.
“It is time for the mayor and the council to unite. It is time just to move forward, so you know,” Miller said. “I am not going to just sit and dwell in the past. That is behind us. We are moving forward, just by uniting the council. and I think we are just ready to do that.”
