A track hoe struck the Interstate 40 underpass in Baxter Monday.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol cited 45-year-old Jonathan Walls of Smithville for over height and permit restriction violations.
According to a crash report, Walls was traveling North on 56 with an oversized load and a track hoe extended too high in the air. The THP said the track hoe struck the bottom of the I 40 bridge.
The bridge was deemed safe by TDOT officials.
