Search Warrants Executed At Senior Living Facility In Cookeville

Local and state law enforcement agencies executed search warrants at a Cookeville senior living facility Thursday morning.

District Attorney General Bryant Dunaway said the investigation involves allegations of elder abuse and financial exploitation of more than 30 residents living at the Senior Lifestyles facility.

“We received multiple complaints over the last year related to these allegations and law enforcement investigators have been working diligently to investigate whether those allegations were valid,” Dunaway said. “Search warrants were authorized by the criminal court and allowed officers to search for evidence of those crimes at both the facility and administrative offices.”

No arrest made during the execution of the search warrants, but Dunaway said he anticipates that happening in the future.

“We will be evaluating the evidence that was taken during the searches to further the investigation,” Dunaway said.

Dunaway said the facility is a mental health group home for vulnerable adults with mental illness.

“We are taking this very serious. Elder abuse and financial exploitation is a problem, even in the Upper Cumberland,” Dunaway said. “When we felt like there was some legitimacy to these complaints, the investigation began and it’s progressing very well.”

Law enforcement officers with the District Attorneys Office, Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, Cookeville Police Department, TBI, and 13th Judicial Drug Task Force assisted with the execution of the search warrants.
