A measure sponsored by State Representative Ryan Williams that improves medical safety for patients has advanced through a Tennessee General Assembly Committee.
House Bill 2603 seeks to enhance the transparency in the licensing process for EMS personnel. It would require EMS personnel to notify the EMS Board of all past convictions and any pending charges within 10 business days of their occurrence.
Williams said current law may enable some individuals applying for licenses to slip through the cracks, jeopardizing the health and safety of Tennesseans.
The bill has gained approval from the House Health Committee and now heads to the House Calendar and Rules Committee.
