Pickett County Executive Richard Daniel said he’s working to re-establish a ferry service at East Port Marina.
“Our county is divided up into three sections because of Dale Hollow Lake,” Daniel said. “One of the things I would like to do is have a ferry re-installed in the southern end of the county in the East Port dock area. That would allow the county emergency services to serve those people because we can’t. They’re served by Fentress and Overton County.”
Daniel said re-establishing the ferry service would be one of his top priorities if re-elected as county mayor this year.
The ferry service previously operated on Dale Hollow Lake, but that ended when the condition of the ferries deteriorated overtime.
