A blood drive will be held early next month to honor and remember a former Putnam County EMS employee.
Carmen Burnette passed away February 15th 2011 after complications from a back surgery. EMS Director Tommy Copeland said the blood drive has been an annual event since Burnette passed away.
“Carmen was one of our field training officers and a paramedic who worked for us for about 13 years,” Copeland said. “She contributed a lot to the community by way of being a paramedic, training new and existing employees, and also the community outreach CPR program as she helped train thousands of people do CPR.”
The blood drive will be held from Monday February 5th through Friday February 9th at Cookeville’s Blood Assurance location on West Broad Street.
“You know, this is a community outreach thing in that we need more blood donations. That’s on ongoing thing and something I think she would have very likely supported because it helps a lot of people,” Copeland said.
