Due to the frigid temperatures and extremely high loads across the Tennessee Valley, TVA has initiated Step 20 of their Emergency Load Curtailment Plan.
Cookeville Electric’s Karen Brown said Step 20 requests voluntary reduction in power use to all electric customers.
“We’re talking about turning down lights or turning down your thermostats a few notches,” Brown said. “Anything possible that our customers can do to reduce usage.”
Officials of the 155 local power companies in the Tennessee Valley are asking all electric power consumers–residential, commercial and industrial–to cooperate in reducing power usage during this critical situation
Brown said TVA’s Step 20 initiative will more than likely be in place for the rest of the week.
