Cookeville To Consider Acquiring Land For New Police Station

The Cookeville City Council will be meeting Thursday to consider approval of a Memorandum of Understanding to acquire 3.55 acres of land on the corner of Old Walton Road and Neal Street.

City Manager Mike Davidson said if approved, it would be the future site of Cookeville’s new police department.

“The seller has already added a phase one environmental report. No significant issues were identified in that report,” Davidson said. “They also had a preliminary geotechnical report of the site done and there was no significant issues identified in that either.”

The purchase price for the property is $600,000.

The city had looked at finding property for the new police station in the downtown area, but could not find a location that fit within the city’s budget.
