Absences Due to Flooding Will Be Excused

Because of flooding across Cumberland County Tuesday, several county students were unable to get to their schools. Director of Schools Janet Graham said Tuesday night that those absences would be excused. School officials did encourage parents to send a brief note to their child’s school explaining the reason for the absence.

Overnight heavy rains have flooded and closed at least 15 roads in Cumberland County. Officials with the Cumberland County Highway Department said at least three roads in the Lake Tansi area could be closed for several days.
