Sparta’s Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital has received permission to move forward with plans to add four beds to its existing at-capacity 10 bed geriatric impatient psychiatric unit.
The $350,000expansion would allow the hospital the further meet local behavioral needs. The project would convert two rooms from the medical surgical unit into senior care patient rooms. Officials said the project would also add 900-square feet to the geriatric unit.
Construction plans still need final approval but officials hope to have the work complete by the spring.
