Vehicle Shot During Road Rage Incident Saturday

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate a road rage incident that happened Saturday on Interstate 40 in Putnam County.

Sergeant Greg Tramel said the incident occurred near exit 287 westbound when a black Honda or Acura fired shots towards a vehicle driven by 72-year-old Earl A. Cook of Rockwood.

“Mr. Cook pulled onto the right shoulder  near exit 283 and noticed bullet holes in the side of his vehicle,” Tramel said. “Mr. Cook then called 911, which those calls were transferred through the Tennessee Highway Patrol dispatch. There were bullet holes in the left rear of the vehicle and a bullet hole in the left side of the fuel tank.”

According to a report, Cook observed the vehicle exit onto the the exit 286 off ramp and turn right onto Willow Avenue.

Tramel said the search for the driver of the black Honda or Acura remains ongoing and so far they do not have any leads.
