Entries Accepted For Crossville Christmas Parade

Crossville’s Christmas Parade features the importance of reading. The theme this year is “Reading Around The Christmas Tree.” The Cumberland County Board of Education’s Early Literacy Council will be the parade marshals. Entry forms are available at the Palace Theater on Main Street. Entries are free and will be accepted up until December 6.

Folks wanting to burn brush will need a permit starting Sunday. Statewide, folks outside of cities and towns will need a permit from the county or state forestry service to burn. Milling Has Begun On Willow Avenue

Milling has begun on Cookeville’s Willow Avenue. TDOT spokesman Jennifer Flynn said the two-part project is on schedule. Contractor Rogers Group has lowered manholes, repaired sidewalks and drainage catchbasins. Now they’re removing old pavement before applying new asphalt. DeKalb County authorities have arrested a man for allegedly making five fake emergency calls to 911 earlier this month. Authorities have charged 49-year-old Larry Capshaw with misuse of the 911 system.
