Williams Focused On Legislative Session

Rep. Ryan Williams said he’s committed to serving House District 42 in the next legislative session and praying about the future.

Sen. Bob Corker announced Tuesday he wouldn’t run for re-election. That leaves a third high-level elected seat open for next year’s election.

“Yesterday’s announcement by Senator Corker was a surprise to me, and I thank him for his service to Tennessee and our nation. Abby and I have been praying about my future plans. Right now, my focus remains on the 2018 legislative session and my duties as House Republican Caucus Chairman. I am grateful to our hardworking men, women, and families in House District 42 for their support and for placing their trust in me to fulfill the promises I have made to them as their representative in Nashville.”

Gov. Bill Haslam is term-limited. U.S. Rep. Diane Black announced she would run for governor, which leaves her seat without an incumbent next year. Several other elected officials have announced they would run for governor or Black’s seat.
