Construction repairs for Smithville’s Veterans Memorial Bridge on South College Street will begin soon.
TDOT plans to begin work the day after the Labor Day holiday period.
TDOT awarded the contract to Mid-State Construction two months ago for $222,894.
The bridge closed June 27th of 2016 after a county landfill truck his the underside of the bridge causing damage. The bridge was struck again last month by a freightliner hauling cars.
The repair project is expected to be completed by October 31st of this year.
