Overton County Schools will be closed during the August 21st total solar eclipse.
The board of education made the decision this week citing liability and safety concerns. Board members had concerns about children suffering eye injuries during the eclipse and possible issues with school transportation.
Putnam County and Smith County schools will also be closed the day of the total solar eclipse
