The Sparta Board of Mayor and Aldermen will begin making changes to the city’s personnel manual Thursday.
City Administrator Chris Dorsey said the manual is old and out of date. Last winter, city staff began meeting with a consultant from the Municipal Technical Advisory Service.
“We spent about 6-8 months with John Grubb, he’s the consultant with MTAS, going through the manual, figuring out what the real best practices should be, what we should have in a personnel manual,” Dorsey said.
MTAS will give a presentation at the board meeting Thursday. The board won’t approve the manual in one piece. Dorsey said the 80-page book will be broken up into smaller chunks for approval.
The Sparta Board of Mayor and Aldermen will meet at 5 p.m. Thursday at the city building.
