A new sheriff will be named in Fentress County this evening.
The county commission will be selecting one of five candidates to replace former sheriff Chucky Cravens. Cravens resigned earlier this year. He’s facing federal corruption charges for allegedly having sex with female inmates.
Chief Deputy Gary Ledbetter is currently serving as interim sheriff and he is one of the five candidates who have applied for the permanent sheriff’s position.
