Improving Safety At Cummins Lengthy Process

Tennessee State Parks officials have begun an extensive process to improve safety at Cummins Falls State Park.

TDEC Deputy Commissioner Brock Hill said there’s no timeline, they want the process done right.

“I don’t know of any timeline that we’re trying to reach as far as what we’re going to do and what it’s going to cost and how many people are going to be involved or those kinds of things, we’re having discussions and exploring different options to see where they lead us and once we determine what the best step forward is we’ll pursue it,” Hill said.

Last week two women died and 40 people had to be rescued after a storm in Putnam County raised water levels very quickly.

Hill said he and parks staff were saddened by the loss of life and praised the multi-county emergency services agencies that responded.
