It’s now legal to sell fireworks in Smithville at certain times of the year.
Smithville aldermen unanimously approved the measure rolling back a 1982 ban on fireworks sales.
Under the new ordinance, vendors can apply for a 12-month permit to sell fireworks for a $500 fee.
Sales are only permitted from June 20 – July 9 and December 21 – January 5.
